High Heels: What’s in a Shoe?

Shoes of every style, material and maker are loved by women, period. But it’s the heels which are most desired. They are everywhere. On magazines, posters, calendars, the net, movies, hanging around someone’s neck in small precious metal versions – on women’s (and a few men’s) feet. No pop celebrity will be captured dead not having her skinny Manolos.

What’s in a shoe? Maybe, it was initially intended to protect someone’s feet but shoes have evolved from its practical purpose to its current grand heights. Oftentimes, the bigger, the better. Heels aren’t just ladies shoes that girls simply put on. It’s a statement, symbolic of authority, social stature, femininity, empowerment and joy.

Like cultures and culture, this passion with high heels gets given to through generations and exactly how this happens is nothing more than a girl a boy watching her mother or her favorite actress show off high heels as though they were jewelry. The fascination with shoes is and acquired taste and it is a consensual decision that women make to participate in educating the youth.
Women tend to put them on for several reasons and comfort may not even be on the list. Some theorize that heels were invented to punish those who put them on and this theory includes a valid point.

A number of accidents and injuries have been brought on by these shiny elegant items that women love a lot. Does that prevent a lady from wearing them? Most certainly not. Instead you may hear her say that wearing high heels demands practice and true skill; exactly like how guns which are meant to protect can kill, heels which were made to cause you to feel much like the true goddess that you are can hurt if you are not careful. Is this fact why they are also called “killer shoes”? However, it was also declared heels used to have very practical purpose: Butchers from egypt worn it to keep their feet off of the gore at work, riders of horses worn it to grip their stirrups better. It simply evolved, that’s all.

For smart women, it’s just a matter of choosing wisely. You will find high heel shoes that provide more comfort than others; those with chunkier heels often give more stability. It is also best to know your limits, a 5-inch set of stilettos may look breathtaking on the rack but let’s be honest not everyone is created to withstand the challenges of walking around in those sexy yet potentially dangerous heels.
